Chemical characters of 1-Hexene CAS 592-41-6
In the presence of catalyst, 1-hexene reacts with hydrogen to form hexane.
C6H12 + H2 = = c6h14 (Ni as catalyst) the carbon carbon double bond of hexene is very active and easy to give electrons, but it has an addition reaction with reagents that need electrons. This reaction is called electrophilic addition.
1) Addition with halogen
C6H12 + Br2 = = c6h12br2 phenomenon, reddish brown disappears
2) Addition with halogenated hydrocarbons
3) Addition with sulfuric acid
4) Addition with water
C6H12 + H2O = = c6h13oh stability: carbon carbon double bond is very active and easy to react with a variety of chemicals
